A special {sunday snippets} today.  A few people have been waiting to see my new studio.  I treated myself with the proceeds from my last exhibition.  I've been talking about updating my studio for 3 years.  I must thank Ms L and Louise Gale for giving me a good prod on making it happen.

The space feels so amazing.  It's bright and fresh.  It's comfy and colourful.  It's full of treasure and memories.  It's an expression of me.

Most importantly it's really functional.  It's a working space, which it hasn't been since we moved to the new house.

It's perfect.  I love it.  So does the studio assistant.  He spends most of his days up there on the windowsill.

How was your weekend?  Did you capture it in pictures?  I'd love to see your {sunday snippets}.  Post some pictures on your blog, link back to this post, and leave your link in the comments here.  I promise a proper linky list next weekend!  Seriously, I promise!

{seriously uncool}

BigCat!

I'm beginning to suspect that the studio assistant may be trying to sabotage me!  Or perhaps he thinks the canvases are fur peep hammocks?  Either way, there's trouble in the studio.

PS.  If you're free tomorrow night NCB is where it's at.  Might see you there.

{holding the fort}

Not on the Paintings

While I'm focused on getting back into the routine of full time work, I've got the studio assistant keeping an eye on things in the studio.  I've talked to him about the rules {no lying on the paintings at any time} but you know what they say .... never work with children or animals!

{another appearance from the studio assistant}

A Helping Hand

Aren't I lucky that when I'm really busy getting ready for markets and exhibitions and a million other things the studio assistant can always sense it?   These are the times when he sacrifices his usual routine of curling up on the bed all day to lend a hand.  Aw, bless him!

I'm off to the Buninyong Maker's Market tomorrow and looking forward to it.  Buninyong is such a lovely spot.  Every time I'm there I think "hmmn, I wouldn't mind living around these parts one day".

Today I'm off to check out the Art @ Burnley Harbour Exhibition with an artsy-fartsy mate that I haven't seen for ages.  French crepes and art exhibitions.  Sounds fancy as, right?  I've got 6 pieces in the show.  It's on from 8am - 8pm today and from 8am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday at the McConchie Reserve, Mary Street, Richmond.

Then next week it's the open studio here at my place, which I'm so looking forward to.  I'm planning on cooking and baking up a storm, and I've already been painting my heart out.  Don't forget to email me if you want to come along and need the address.

Have a great weekend peeps. As Leonie always says "Love to You and Yours"!

{down the garden path - open studio event}

Down The Garden Path

It might go without saying that I have voyeuristic tendencies.  I love to see the way other people live, see what their homes look like and experience other people's lives and cultures.  I am an observer of detail.

Creative spaces are of particular fascination to me of course.  I am intrigued by the way people create, where, how, and their processes.

I'd been thinking for some time about having an open studio event.  I thought others might like to come and see my creative space and learn a little more about my processes.  When our house was put up for sale it all seemed a little complex and I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull it off.

I'm very pleased to say that everything has fallen into place and I'm holding an open studio and end of year celebration.

Down the Garden Path
Wednesday 8th December 2010
4 - 8.30pm
Thornbury

Everyone is welcome to come along.  There'll be drinks and nibbles, lots of time to poke around in my studio and ask me questions about my work.  You'll also be able to see the finished commission piece and the artwork for the Patti Digh book.

I've asked CurlyPops to join me and we're going to have a little market on the back deck as well.  Both of us will have our creations for sale.  I'm even working on some new originals for the event.

Rather than share my address with the world here on the web, if you'd like to come along please email me at tinniegirl(at)optusnet.com.au and I'll send you the invite with full address details.

For those who can't make it I'll be sure to take lots of photos and share them.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.  I'm cooking and painting today and then off to Daylesford for the Maker's Market tomorrow.
