This morning I thought "sometimes it's only in our darkest moments that our deepest dreams can emerge". You know, I think that could be what's happening for me at the moment. Lots of clarity and big ideas going on in the last 24 hours. It makes my heart beat fast when I think about what might be possible. Thanks for making the road a little less lonesome.

What's on for the weekend peeps? I've got some crafty gals coming over for a crafternoon.

The Fifth Take

You've probably read all about my trip to Sewjourn over at Hoppo Bumpo, CurlyPops, Beccasauras or Reenie-su but I've been wanting to add my spin on it too. In fact, having talked and laughed on the weekend about what a narcissistic pursuit blogging is, I have to assume that you've been waiting with anticipation to hear my take on it!! You have, haven't you?


What can I add to the reports of my crafty posse? How about I tell you about waking up on Saturday morning to the sound of women chatting and laughing, and thinking to myself that there's something so magical about the company of women. How I'm always amazed by the space that's created when women get together away from their daily lives and obligations. When we stop being partners, mothers, corporate girls, worker bees, carers, nurturers (not that we ever truly stop being all or some of those things).


Those rare moments when we just stop. And Be. Ourselves. I love that space. The space that women occupy together. It seems so ancient and so much bigger than any of us. It makes me feel privileged and lucky to be a part of it.



It makes me feel passionate about seeking ways to create more of those opportunities for myself and other women. That's a dream in progress, that one.


I was there laughing and chatting on the weekend but I was absent too. I'm finding that a lot at the moment. Wherever I am, I'm never quite there. Part of me is always locked away with my grief. Part of me is lost in the past, trying to understand and let go. I'm trying to find my way back, to start moving forward again but it's hard work. Some days I can hardly speak the pain is so overwhelming. I've said it before, the only cure for grief is time. Do I dare wish away time?

There's been so much of it lately. It seems to go hand in hand with blogging don't you think?

I love the way Anastasia puts colours together, and combines vintage and new. Her blog too is a constant delight.

Some purchasing

A pretty needle case from Selina's Vintage. I saw the one that CurlyPops picked up and popped straight over to Selina's shop to get myself one. It was one of those things that I'd been saying I was going to make for so long. It was lovely to treat myself and to support someone else's creativity.


I've been wanting one of Dear Fii's wristlet pin cushions since I saw them at the Stitches and Craft Show in March. Finally pressed the purchase button and I can't wait for it to arrive. I think I'll just wear it all the time, it's so pretty. Have you checked out all the great things happening for Fi lately. She's a rock star I'm telling you, and I'm so excited for her.

I'm ever so grateful for all the Tinnie love over the last few days. Here, here, here and people purchasing the last of the Tinnies over in the shop.

I'm really feeling the letting go of the Tinnies. They were my first foray into making a living from my creativity. An enormous and exciting first step. I read this post over at Sparrow Salvage yesterday about letting go. Go and read it if you have time. It says it all.

Come Craft With Me...

This Saturday, February 7th 2009, will be the first get together of the Thornbury Craft Bonanza for the year. We've found ourselves a new home at Amitie Upstairs (which may mean we need to rethink the "Thornbury" part of the name but who's complaining when there's a trip to Amitie involved.)

Would you like to join us? It seems some of our usual peeps can't make it so we have extra space. You'll meet lots of lovely creative girls, get some crafting done, eat some treats and talk and laugh yourself hoarse. A deliciously inspiring time just waiting to be had.

You can bring along your sewing, knitting, spinning, weaving, creative daydreaming or any other project you are working on. I'm on a mission to finish up some projects that have been hanging around for a long time.

There's room for 3 people to join us. It will cost you $7.50, which goes towards the venue hire and the refreshments kitty and you'll need to bring a plate of goodies to share.
