SURRENDER

"It's tempting to think & think & think, thinking that this will lead to some place of peace and resolution. When in fact the opposite is the case - peace and resolution are found when we learn not to think & think & think, and just BE!" (CPK 31/1/08)

Two years ago today I penned that quick thought. Right now is one of those classic trigger times where overthinking can easily take hold. I'm busy at work, busy at home, busy getting ready for the trip. There are a plenty of lists to manage, things to be done and thoughts to be thunk. I'm excited beyond words and full of nervous energy. All too easily these various factors can combine and lead to a total meltdown.

Today, in the face of that multitude of things to do, I stayed in my PJ's most of the day, baked some bread, pottered in the studio and ordered the groceries online. I left the gym for another day and now I'm curled up on the couch for a night of TV.

I think I'm finally starting to understand what it is to just BE.

I did manage to find a minute to put my recent collages in the shop. They're there now if you're interested, including lots of pictures of the fine details.

  2. I'm loving your new collages Cathy. I think I may have already said this, but surrender is my motto at the moment with a new baby plus the 2 girls to mother. It's no easy task, to let go of my expectations of myself, but makes for a much more relaxed life when I do!
I love the sound of your day - a perfectly lovely Sunday.

  6. Oh jammie days what fun!! I managed an hour on the treadmill, but i'm one of those people who tunes out & thinks up great ideas while 'treading' so try not to miss a session. Can't say today was producive other than 400 calories (i wasn't running, too hot). Had a very zen morning though, ahhhh, love Sundays!! Love Posie

  7. It's quite plain to me. There should be an eight day in the week: Pyjama Day.

  13. Just being is a definitely a fine art. I guess its kind of like standing on the ladder and not looking up or down. Just appreciating the rung you're on. (And in my clumsy case, not overbalancing and falling off!)

Love your beautiful new collages ... they are gorgeous!

  14. I need to write that quote on my forehead! Great to hear that you took the time to "be". I love the latest collage too!

Oh, and after doing a post on your book that you very kindly lent me, I'm finally ready to return it. I'm so sorry I had it for so long! I seemed to have misplaced your address, could you possibly give it to me again?

  15. Jeepers, Miss Cathy! I could have written that quote myself! It's exactly how I feel, especially when it is so easy to torture ourselves with our "what ifs" and our "hurry ups".

Not long now and you will flying on your way to to another part of your "being" journey!
