{it's that time of year}

I've been reflecting lately, on this year and all that it's gifted me.  If I were to say what those things were I think I could pretty much sum them up in the words in the painting.

JOY ~ TRUTH ~ HOPE ~ LOVE ~ BEAUTY

 It's been a great year.  If you had asked me a month or two ago I doubt I could have seen it though. If you'd asked me four months ago I would have said it was one of the crappier ones.  But standing near the end of it I would say it's been one of the best.

Alongside all of the above I'm ending this year with some of the most amazing gifts I could hope for.  Clarity, a sense of purpose and a belief in my ability to make a difference in the world.  Like I said, what more could I wish for.

I am beyond excited for next year to arrive.  I have such big plans and dreams.  When do I not? But they're not the dreams of the past few years, where my focus has been mostly turned inwards to personal pursuits.  Next year, and hopefully for many years after, I plan to be out in the world doing great things.  I plan to bring big ideas to life.  I plan to collaborate with others.  I plan to be innovative and entrepreneurial.  I plan to be courageous and powerful.  I plan to make a difference.

I'm exploring ideas for my word of the year for 2013.  At the moment I'm toying with ambition.  It feels like a courageous and powerful word.  A word that stretches me out of my comfort zone {is is just me or are there sometimes negative connotations associated with ambition?}, which is exactly where I want to go.

In many ways I feel like I'm emerging from a cocoon.  Fresh, new and ready to conquer the world.  What a year!

  1. Love the post and your passion for the new year, ambition is the perfect word for it and it describes all the the words above so well. Love the painting, its free and reaching out to all corners, the world is your oyster and I cant wait to see what you will create for 2013.

  2. What a great post! And I thought I was the only one who is already reflecting on the past year though November is barely over... ;)

    I'm glad you have been able to weather the storms this year has brought you and that you are so eagerly looking forward to the year ahead. I am VERY curious to hear about your big plans and dreams, but I know they will be shared when the time is right for you =-)

    This post makes me want to cull the words/values this year has brought for me, regardless of my WOTY - thanks for the inspiration Cathy!

    PS: thanks for the link to the Venice class - it sounds like great fun!

  3. Awesome! Good for your Cathy. I wonder sometimes what is that pivotal moment when you realise that life actually is pretty damn good. I think its the little things that can in fact make the biggest shifts. Certainly having a wonderful group of friends supporting you and smiling on the path with you can make all the difference in the world. And then sometimes its just that little light that goes on in your heart that says 'actually, i AM worthy and i AM ok just as i am'. My heart sings for you ♥
