Rules Of The House

  1. The cat is not allowed in the house.
  2. OK, the cat is allowed in the house, but only in certain rooms.
  3. OK, the cat is allowed in all rooms, but must stay off the furniture.
  4. The cat can get on the old furniture only.
  5. Fine, the cat is allowed on all the furniture, but is not allowed to sleep with the humans on the bed.
  6. The cat can sleep on the bed, but not under the covers or on the pillow.
  7. OK, the cat can sleep under the covers and on the pillow by invitation only.
  8. Well, OK, the cat can sleep under the covers every night and on the pillow too.
  9. Humans must ask permission to sleep under the cover with the cat; only the cat can sleep on the pillow.
It seems the cats of Australia are welcoming the arrival of winter.

  3. What a crack up! That perfectly describes the evolution of the cat rules in my house... and I need to add one more - when the cat knocks, the human must answer, or else security screen doors will be destroyed... and when the cat whines in the middle of the night, he must be fed or he'll keep you awake all bloody night. Can you tell I'm a little sleep deprived..hee hee

  4. Hahaha... definitely Winter here too, our cat stalks me everytime I sit down wanting lap space and pats where during warmer months I am just a food provider!

  5. SO true, you've described cat rules in every household! Except the 'you must put food in my bowl, even 2 pieces, every time i miaow or I won't stop'.

  9. These cat rules apply to our chihuahua too apparently though mostly he still has to sleep inbetween blankets not straight on my sheets. (when I am there at least!!) Cherrie

  12. Love it Cathy!

Sadly our old boy has never been an under the covers kinda guy, and these days he doesn't even make it into the bedroom. He has 'bodily' issues... :(

  13. THAT is hilarious!!!
    Mine is something like this:
    1. tiny puppy sleeps in bed with his bachelorette mum
    2. puppy sleeps in bedroom on floor
3.new boyfriend builds large puppy a dog house
    3. large puppy and his mummy move to country from inner city
    4. doggy sleeps on old lounge and goes everwhere with his mum and dad
    5. new baby arrives and new lounge arrives- doggy is very lonely
    6. baby grows up and doggy sleeps next to toddler in her room
    7. doggy sleeps back next to mummy on the ground next to her bed because the toddler is not around and he can have a moment agina with his mum.
    8. doggy sleeps on lounge at times and mummy turns a blind eye but makes sure daddy doesn't see....

Particularly enjoying the rather self satisfied expression on the cat's face.

  16. Nice to know that it isn't just our cat that thinks he owns the whole house :D

  17. Uh huh. Oh, and in our house, don't forget: Cat MUST NOT use couch as a scratching post. If only they would understand english all the time, rather than only when it suits them!

  18. Hahaha! Cats! This cracked me up, thanks :)

  19. And you forgot the most important golden rule of cats

Humans exist only to serve cats.

  20. The white cat of the house is also obliged to sleep on the darkest coloured clothing.
I think your cat has been sharing the joke with mine :o)

  24. While reading this list and kept thinking you must be talking about my cat, how uncanny! :)

  25. Funny how things are at the beginning...... I now beg Jasper(Dog Boy) to join me in the bed. Sometimes he'll come, sometimes not.

  26. That's so funny!!! The pillows in our house belong to the humans but our feet are not allowed on the bed...they must hang off the sides as that is the cat's domain. If said feet go anywhere near her domain there will be prompt nibbling of the toes.

  27. Oh too true! When we got our cat the husb as adamant that he would not be allowed in the bedroom. At all. Ever.
I got home from work last week to find the cat asleep on the bed, with my new quilt placed over him. The reason? The husband thought he looked cold.
Cats always win in the end.

  28. I love it! This is life at MoonCat Farms as well, only times 9. Hubby & I get about 1/4 of the kingsize bed - kitties claim the other 3/4. We have a nightly ritual where 2 of them must attack our feet for about 15 minutes (under the covers) and then we can all go to sleep.

    Thanks for the laugh!
