{how to write a list}

Writing a list

  • let go of the past.  it doesn't matter what you did or didn't do before.
  • carve out some meaningful space and time for yourself.
  • let go of fear. let go of expectation.
  • write at least one thing on your list that scares you.
  • keep your list somewhere special. read it regularly.
  • write the way that works for you. maybe's it's just words of intention, maybe you like to write around themes {financial, health, family, creativity, work}, or maybe you just like to write a big list of everything.
  • write it over a few days or write it in one sitting.
  • don't overthink it. let your dreams and hopes, plans and goals unfold.
  • be brave.
  • have fun.
  • dream big.

i'll be posting my list tomorrow. join me?

  1. I thought my post today would be a sort of to-do list, but it hurt my head thinking too much,so I'm just going to go with the flow for now!
I may try again after school holidays when my slate is cleaner.
Looking forward to your list, and all the best with the new job

  2. ahhhh what nice advice! I'm very much a list girlie - I shared my 2011 'to-do' list in bloggyland on new years day.... and I think I horrified many of my blogging buddies who I suspect may not share my zest for lists! I think I'll have to show them your advice....

  3. Great post! I like the first point. I think that's very important and something we can all learn from.
I was planning to post my list for 2011 but I never finish everything on it for various reasons then wish I hadn't publicised it - perhaps this year will be a different sort of list!

  4. I'm doing my lists monthly rather than yearly. Bite sized chunks.

  5. I like your list about lists! Really good advice... I've started a list of sorts too - might even post it tomorrow!

  6. That is a great way to think about lists... I'll get started on mine and look forward to reading yours!

  7. I'm really looking forward to seeing your list. Dream big!

  8. Can't wait to see your list, I'm sure it will be inspirational as always. If you're going to dream, then you may as well dream big....

  9. This is such a refreshing post. Realistic, less critical, and more do-able... We are so hard on ourselves. We NEED to give ourselves permission to be human. Thanks for the reminder... We can DREAM BIG without judging ourselves all along the way. Number one is my favorite too!

  10. Hi Cathy, I just bought a new notebook yesterday to keep track of lists and goals. It just all seems more real when you write it down, doesn't it? I do wish you a Fabulous New Year filled with love, health and prosperity and I look forward to following more your creative adventures. xx
