{still friday somewhere in the world - blogtoberfest day IX}

After some thought I realised that I'm actually not late for the Friday Giveaway at all.  After all, it's still Friday in many parts of the world, and blogtoberfest is very much an international event.

It's easy to get caught up in our own little worlds and forget there's a whole big world happening out there.  One of the things that I love about blogging is the way that it brings the world to your doorstep, but in a real and connected way.

So without apology, or further ado, I present to you the Friday Giveaway for this week.  It just wouldn't be blogtoberfest if I didn't give away some of my original artwork.

Leave a comment any time up till the end of Monday telling me two things:
  1. what part of the world would you love to live in if you could go and live anywhere.  No rules.  It could be for a little while, for a lifetime, you can have as much money as you want, do whatever job you like, live exactly as you want.  Let your imagination run free. (for me it would be Paris or New York City or somewhere in the Middle East, or all 3 for a few months at a time.  Money would be no object and I'd be living in an amazing apartment in the city, painting, eating out every night, wandering the cities by day)
  2. which of the two paintings you'd like to win.
I'll draw two winners on Tuesday.

I hope you have a lovely weekend in your little corner of the world peeps.

Pop over and visit Ms L's blog if you want to put a smile on your face today.  It made me smile.

  1. Oooh, it would probably have to be somewhere in France. Most likely in Provence, but I'll let you know more specifically after next April ;) To live out my days in the French countryside would be tres magnifique! And to pick either one of those paintings....now that's hard!! I'm going to go with blossoming. Just gorgeous.

  2. Sapporo in the wintertime and Bali in Sapporo's summertime. I get so excited just thinking about it. Will it ever happen? Gotta keep believing!
I love 'blossoming' too. It's my colours. I love so much of your work. I would be happy to own any of it!

  3. I love Australia, it has become my home since I moved from Ukraine. But, if I could I would live in Switzerland. It is such a beautiful country and I would love to at least visit it one day. I would live outside the city, probably close to the mountains and have my own sewing room with glass walls for plenty of natural light and looking at beautiful scenery. Ohh, I could dream up so much!!!
I like both of the paintings, but since I have to choose, I would love to win "Blooming". I like orange and I like bright. :)

and i choose blossoming, definitely ... what a wonderful sentiment given it's spring.

ps great giveaway and i have my fingers crossed for another original.

  7. Oh great question. With money no object I would take our children on a trip around the world. What better way to homeschool than to have the world, literally, at your fingertips.

I would love Blooming, it is perfect for Spring and the colours I love.

  8. I would have a tropical island somewhere to go to the sunshine and warmth whenever I wanted and to enjoy the slow, relaxed lifestyle. I do love Edinburgh and Vienna though so a lovely house in each of those places would be nice. I would be BLOSSOMING :-).

  9. What a lovely giveaway. I would choose to live on a tropical rainforest retreat for a little while, surrounded only by family, wildlife, warmth, and natural beauty. The Amazon would be great, but otherwise the tropics of Far North Queensland would do!

My vote goes for Blooming, it is beautiful!

  11. I would love to live in a gorgeous little beach house right on the beach, probably northern New South Wales with a little sandy track leading down to the water, a big balcony with a large comfy couch/daybed for reading and table for sitting around. Then when the weather got cold a little apartment in Paris with a cute little balcony, then a house in Bali for in between.
Have a really hard time choosing which painting. They are both beautiful, but I think Blooming suits my house.

  13. Oooh this is a very nice one! (both the beautiful painting and the chance to dream)

I'd have 3 months of the year in New York, money no object, only have to work if I want to, and spending my time painting, sewing, theatre-ing, art gallerying, fabric and stationery shopping (!) reading, walking and eating!

3 months in a remote village somewhere or on an island, with little to no money and a chance to help, create & learn a new language and culture.

3 months in a house on a warm sandy beach painting, writing & sewing.

3 months in Brighton, where I live now! - I'd like winter too please. The life I have now please; it's not perfect, I never have any money, the beach is pebbly, but for the last 15 years it's been home.

I love both paintings, but if I had to choose it would be Blossoming, as it has the colours I'm sewing at the moment and they make me zingy!

  14. Oh Yay to win this would really top my first Blogtoberfest off!
I have always felt I would like to go to Switzerland but I think the cold would get to me so maybe just stay there for a little while. I would love to go to the Middle East too especially Israel and Egypt. I would just travel around with Hubby - just the two of us enjoying the surrounds, it would be great to learn some of their language too. I love picture number 1 (most :-D).

  15. I would love to live in the Lake District in England. Borrowdale would be wonderful.
Your paintings are wonderful too, but Blossoming would be my choice.

  16. I spoke to my brother yesterday morning and found it strange that it was only lunch time friday where he was in Hawaii.
Now where would I like to live? I have not travelled much out of Australia and to be honest the thought of going to a big crowded place where I don't speak the language scares me. So I would like to go somewhere nice and quiet, peaceful and that has lots of craft and thrift stores...Where is this place??
    My favourite painting is "blossom"....

  21. I would love to live back in California. It's important for me to be close to my family and I miss them terribly. I would have enough money to buy a house that actually had a yard space and we'd be close to the ocean.

    And I love Blossoming.

  23. Then have fun and giggles with my sis in the evenings like the old days before we became grown ups!!

  24. For the last 40 years I have been writing to a penfriend in America. We 'met' through The Monkees fan club and have actually met in person just 3 times. So I would like a year to visit her and see all the places she has lived and written to me about in all that time. She mainly lives by one of the lakes up in Michigan but has a 2nd home in Florida so that would be my first port of call!
As for the paintings, well 'Blooming' would look wonderful on the wall of my conservatory, so that gets my vote!

  25. I would live in Australia! Possibly in an old (but renovated and functional) weatherboard house in one of the streets of my current neighbourhood. Or possibly in the green wedge... And I'd like a small hut somewhere in the bush, near the mountains to have as a hiking base and a retreat.
I'd like to travel - to hike through various mountain ranges all over the world and for work... some sort of project work that changes the world and live and explore various places for a few weeks/months at a time while still having a home base.

As for the paintings, Blossoming gets my vote. :)

Incidentally, I'd love to hear more about the creation of these two paintings... especially how you arrived at the names/titles. :)

  26. Oh wow....hmmm Italy or France would be my first picks then maybe a pacific island....so many great places to choose from.

Blossoming is just beautiful and kind of describes what is happening in my life at the moment.

  27. I would like to see what Amsterdam is like. It has a really awesome contemporary/new dance scene plus so many opportunities to look at great art. I also would like to spend time in Copenhagen or in Oslo. It would be an easy trip from my home base. :-) It would be easy to go anywhere in Europe. I'd make sure to bring along all my historical costumes so as to attend any balls that I might find. :-)

    I like Blooming. :-)

  28. I would love to live in France and own a little fabric store and at night I would have a little crafty party where you could sit around and crochet or sew or knit and drink red wine and eat cheese and all the other yummy French food. Plus I've always wanted to watch the tour de France. I would love either, I would let you choose which one to give me! (I hope that's an ok answer?!)

  29. The Oregon coast is my favourite place - the light and colour, the cold and drama, the quaint seaside villages and light houses captured my imagination on my first visit. I could live there forever.

    Blossoming has those colours.

    Thanks for sharing
