House Guests

They turned up some time around Sunday lunch time. Self-doubt, indecision and the extended family of useless emotions, invading my space, vying for attention, and ruining my excitement about the show. Feet on the furniture, demanding cups of tea and generally getting underfoot and upsetting the balance. I should have known they'd be around. They always show up when the good stuff happens. Planting weeds in my garden.
  • Who do you think you are?
  • You can't go to the show! You're not good enough!
  • Do you really think anyone's going to like your craft?
Ms L gave them a good talking too yesterday, and this morning I sent them packing. No room for those kind of house guests when I've got the show in 3 weeks.

Just 3 little weeks. I am so excited. Will you be there? Please drop in and say Hi. It's going to be SO MUCH FUN.

Speaking of house guests, I've also had some lovely new ones turn up.

From Starashan and Amitie

All gorgeous. All goodies that you can buy from them too.

And from Curlypops. Because I said I loved it and would she mind making me one.

Ms L reminded me last night when the pesky house guests got the better of me what a wonderful and supportive creative community I have in my life. It's OH SO TRUE.

  4. Push them away - they are patently wrong. Your stuff is grand! (And you have a fancy-pants blog URL now, so you are clever too!)

  5. They've obviously never seen your amazing innovative tinnies and craft. And clearly never been to a stitches and craft show. And clearly aren't "in" with what's cool anyway. They're outdated, they no longer have a place in your "house", your house is strong and sturdy, can weather the storms, and looks damn good too!

I'm sure Ms L will keep reminding you of all these things, and you cab be in peace with your excitement!

    You'll be fine. You'll be great. You'll have a ball! :D

  6. You go get'em. You are going to do a fabulous job at the show and it is a great reflection on what your a doing. People must think that it is good idea and that is why you have been included in a line up with all those other fab ladies. You tell those house guests to go and invade somebody else's space. I love the stitch's and craft show and once again sad that I'm going to miss it.

  7. Yep, tell those particular houseguests not to let the door hit them on the way out. You are going to be fabulous at that show!

Love the new Tinniegirl domain name too. How cool :)

  8. So strong and brave and important that you sent them packing. You don't need that negativity around you - or deserve it!
Yay to your supportive Ms L. Yay to you!
Have no doubts Cathy, your creative work is going to be a hit at the show - and you are going to go from strength to strength.
    It's a cert!

  10. I'm so glad you banished THOSE houseguests. They are the worst kind. Ban them from coming again and enjoy getting ready, I'm so excited for you and think the show is something you'll be great at. As I've said before, I'm just sad that you won't be doing the Brisbane show as well.

  12. Shove those losers out the door; take a deep breath or several and just get on with it. Give yourself a little reward for getting goals done, and then one lovely one at the end (maybe an orchid?)- I'm all for bribery. Hey, even if it ends up being the first and last time - so what?
    No guts No glory!

  14. If I was in Melbourne I'd be there in a heartbeat to cheer you on, although a little part of me will be there as my sister and I have sent down six bags for the Wardrobe Refashion Fashion Show that will also be happening at the S&C event.
And by the way, I LOVED my tinnie - I have used most of my bits and pieces already, and in fact the fabric & ric rac you included inspired the latest clutches Jade and I have been making. Honestly, I really think the tinnie idea is genius!!!! Don't let the bozos get you down :)

  15. damn those unwanted house guests and good on you for kicking them out! The craft show is going to be great - your stuff is going to be great - everyone will stop by and say hi - you will be buzzing when you get home and if I can talk myself into missing my second week of uni, I'll be one of the ones who stops by. Craft on!

  16. I'm going to be there and I will come and say hi. And, what do those pesky house guests know anyway? Nothing. But don't worry, they visit the rest of us too. I think they have a policy of a three-night stay at everyone's house.
