A favourite thing about my week is riding Betsy, my bicycle, through beautiful bushland to and from work everyday. How lucky I am to live in a city full of gorgeous natural spaces and beautiful parks and gardens.
I find it so peaceful to spend time in this setting each day. I love the time that my 40 minutes of riding affords me to think about things, plan, dream, create. I've started stopping at the falls some mornings and writing a few notes about how I'm feeling, ideas that are going through my head. Many a blog post begins its life on this ride.
In the last 2 weeks while everyone in Victoria, and the rest of the country, has been feeling so overwhelmed, traumatised and grief stricken by the bushfires I've found so much solace in my bushland oasis.
Seeing familiar faces like Lucy the Goose (a creature known to everyone who rides this trail) makes me smile every single time. Sometimes I sing out a big hello to her and give her a happy wave.
Love Fridays
Isn't she lovely? I can see why it is a special place for you.

I saw an echidna down there one day - in the Clifton Hill section. Who'd have thought it? SO close to the city and yet a world away!
ReplyDeleteWe all need these special places and special "me" times. How wonderful that even in a big bustling city you have found a wild natural space to visit each day..
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Cathy.
It's so great that you get to travel through this space every day...and that you take the opportunity to do so....
ReplyDeleteI've just got back from stomping around the creek with the dog. We had a rain shower and the parakeets (parrots?) in the trees were squawking with glee. It's a grand old place to be - I love it, too - and the dog tells me that the smells are extra special good.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely ride around there... Dights Falls is pretty special. :o)
ReplyDeleteLovely, absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and your kind comment on my log cabin blanket.
what a lovely way to get to work. I know when I used to ride to work I felt a lot more in touch with my town. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo much nicer than sitting in a car stuck in traffic!
ReplyDeleteWe're renovating our house on the banks of the Merri Creek. We can't believe our little patch of paradise just 10 mins from the city.
ReplyDeleteSo precious ...
it's like when i take spanner for a walk along the river, it suddenly becomes so peacful and you can forget you're in the city centre just for a moment... :)
ReplyDeletehave a fab weekend,

WOW, how beautiful. I wish it was summer here so Blake and I could go walking at the park and find our own special duck that we could see everyday. Hmmm, one can dream about summer.
ReplyDeleteCheers Kyla
