Welcome To Tinniegirl

Tinniegirl is now open for business.

I’m so pleased to finally share this new venture with you. It’s so exciting to breathe life into one of my creative ideas.

To celebrate, I’m having a giveaway. Pop over and visit the shop. Once you’ve done that come back and leave a comment telling me what you think, and what colourway you would choose if you win. You’ll go in the running to win one of these two Tinnies.

These are both Dreamer Tinnies. They come filled with 4 beautiful pieces of fabric, and coordinating buttons and notions.

Two Tinnies! Two Winners! Go check out the shop. You know you want to. You've got until midday Wednesday.

  1. Hurrah for tinniegirl! I think you're onto a winning idea. Well done! Will the content colours match the the tin? That way you get a sneak people to what's inside without ruining the surprise. Floral tins having floral fat quarters, etc...

As for a colourway, I'd choose green or blue or orange! I guess I'd go with surprise!

  2. Congratulations!!! What a great idea, the shop looks good! As for colors, it would have to be green. I love old tins too....not to mention what you have inside them....

  4. hey just checked out the etsy site and had one thought... After the name of the tin say "Fancy lady" it would be easier to understand for a purchaser if you maybe put a hyphen after with the type like" thinker"...kinda like this
    Fancy lady - thinker tinnie

Also put your info about each tin (like on your blog) in the speal at the top...hope that makes sense

  5. Very clever idea! I think old tins are beautiful. What a "full circle" kind of idea. They become containers for something special, just as they probably were when they were new. I think all of the colorways are nice!

  6. I'm not entering twice =) I just had a couple of ideas for the shop as it grows! And I'm sure it's going to grow quickly!

I like how you asked for photos of final projects in your spiel. You might want to start a tinniegirl flckr group for gals to show off their tinnie creations.

Also instead of specific colours, you could offer things like:
    "Bright and Bold"
    "Soft and Sweet"
    "Watermelon Squeeze" (pink&green)
    "Warm Sunset" (reds&oranges)
    "Peaches&Cream"

And I think shellbells had some great suggestions. Particularly, describing the sizes and colour options in the top message!

    Best of luck, Amy

  10. Firstly, congratulations! What a terrific, original idea. Definitely a bit of fun and inspiration. As far as colours go, "surprise" or "green" would be my choice. Nothing available in brown? And a very nice tin selection, by the way!Well done.

  23. WOW the secret squirrel really had a fabulous surprise for us! I love the idea, it's so original and encompasses everything I love about vintage crafting: a tin full of stories of the past just waiting to be loved once more.

    Congratulations and best of luck.

  24. The shop looks really great - lots of good photos, and lovely uniform look! My only suggestion would be to maybe use one of the photos of the 'tin contents' that you have on your blog, as the fifth photo in your listings (and just mention it is an 'example' only). That way people don't have to travel back and forth from shop to blog to get an idea of what might be in the tin, and a lot of buyers won't read your shop announcement, so might not know to check out your blog. Also, I remember when I first entered blogland and I didn't even get the difference between an etsy shop and a blog (derrr...I know) so new buyers might find it easier to not leave etsy if they don't have to. Anyway, that's the only suggestion I can think of. Obviously I think it's great, seeing as though I just HAD to have one of the tins for myself :P

Oh, and I really liked all the colourways....the idea of a rainbow one appeals too...

  25. WOW I love your tinnie shop & i adore old tins! i've got at least 50 tins but hey, whose counting...i can always make room for one (or two) more lol! i love spotty fabric, 30s novelties, repros - anything really in b&w, reds, oranges, blues & greens :)

  27. Great stuff!
I like Amy (badskirt)s suggestions for Colour Themes as well, like Bold or Girly or Sweet or even Valentines or Christmas or whatever.
    My fave colourway = blue.

PS. I bought the roses tin, love!!

  28. Wow, what a great idea you had for your shop! I love it, congratulations!! I love the notion of not knowing exactly what you're going to get - a sort of grab bag for the crafty gal (or guy, I suppose).

As far as colors go, I always tend to pick purple first but I like the whole "surprise" option too. :)

  29. Great idea!!!

My fave colourways are sage green and lavender.

  30. Well done! This is a super idea and I've just visited the shop and bought that gorgeous fruit basket! It's lovely and I can't wait to see what surprises are inside!

  32. What a wonderful idea! It is so unique!

I would have to same green or orange ... or yellow and rainbow.

I really liked the Witmans tin so I'd have to say honestly I'd go by the tin and just enjoy what was in it!

  33. Oh wow! What a fun idea - and what a beautiful way to connect with your etsy customers. I love how you get to choose the tin, but the contents are a surprise. There should be more things in life with some choice/some surprise.

And my favourite colourway is YELLOW.

Good luck with all of this - it's a wonderful idea, and you deserve to do well!

  34. Aren't you a clever little soul Tinniegirl. This is such a fabulous idea. I love a nice tin myself spotted a couple of beautiful french ones today full of nougat. I don't know what's better fabric or sweets. It's a hard call! anyway good luck with it all. If I am the lucky winner I don't care what colour I get.

  35. I love the idea for your shop. What a wonderful way to package the craft supplies. The tins themselves make me drool, they are are so cute especially the scottie dogs. As for a colorway, I would have to chose pink or blue. I did notice that there isn't any red colorway, or black and white fabrics. Perhaps in the future? Good luck with your shop.

  36. Cath this is briliant! Well done. I've been kind absent from the blogs lately so am amazed at all that you've done! Green is my colourway! x

  37. I won't be able to look at the tins in the op-shops now with out thinking of tinniegirl! If you ever make it up to the Gold Coast I will have to give you a list of op-shops with cool tins. I love the idea of a "suprise" colour way, and that would have to be my pick! I like the flicker idea - would love to see what crafty people are inspired to make from the contents of these cool tins :)

  38. The cat is finally out of the bag so to speak. I am intrigued as to what notions might be contained in said tins! Best wishes! Oh and yes, re colours, something red or muted (browns and creams) would be loverly!
