Is it just me, or does it feel like there's been a bit of a return to blogging of late? It feels like people drifted away from it for a while and now seem to be drifting back. Anyhow, that's not why I'm here. I've been missing it. It was good {and so very necessary} to take a big break, but at the beginning of this year I really felt like it was time to return.
I have to admit to feeling pretty rusty with my writing. I'm looking forward to getting back into the flow of it. Or should I say I'm hoping the flow will return. Practice, practice, practice - isn't that the key to mastery?
One of the reasons that it took me so long between making the decision to start blogging again and actually doing it was a whole lot of faffing about with the design and layout of my blog. I became totally consumed with making it look and feel just right before I posted anything. Then I read a great article on perfectionism and this quote particularly shifted me into gear:
No more perfectionism. Time to get on with it. And here I am!"Waiting for things to be perfect, 'information-gathering', researching and equipping yourself to begin provide an illusion of real work. In reality, these are stalling techniques and very little progress is being made." Wellbeing Magazine, Annual Edition
And it's lovely to see you back.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see this post Cathy. I actually came and checked in here a few weeks ago... Welcome back.

ReplyDeleteyahoo! good to see you back in the saddle :D
ReplyDeletehave missed your lovely words!

Ah yes... perfectionism. The unattainable ideal. I like to say to my children "practice makes better" - because if you goal is perfection then you're doomed to fail. Get on with it indeed.
ReplyDeleteSo good to have you back.
Welcome back! Fantastic quote to set the tone, I love it. x
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Cathy - I have also started to post more often again - though not nearly as much as I would like. I tried to post a comment via fb link last night but it didn't work... not sure if it was an ipad issue or some other tech thingy. Anyway. It worked this time.
