{i heart mumsy - blogtoberfest day XIV}

Found Hearts

Man, I love my Mum.  She's the best.  She's kind and clever, and generous and quirky.  She has an awesome and irreverent sense of humour and makes me laugh.  A lot.

She's also an extremely accomplished woman and a published food author.  I'm very proud to come from such creative stock.

But I think what I love most about Mumsy is some of the classic things that she says.

Last night we were watching the diving at the Commonwealth Games and she turned to me and earnestly asked me if I could "dive like that".  I can't stop laughing about it.  I actually can't dive at all, not even from a sitting position at the side of the pool.

Perhaps what I really love most is her unerring belief that I can do absolutely anything.
Thanks Mumsy.

Thanks to everyone who joined in the self-portrait challenge.  You blew me away.
I have to apologise that I haven't had the chance to get around and 'see' everyone.  I've got some family stuff happening that's going to mean not much computer time in the coming week, so please excuse me if I'm a little absent.

I'm trying to think of a pun to replace 'stock' that goes with the jam book. I'm certain there's an obvious one but in my sleep-deprived state it's eluding me. Perhaps you are very proud to come from "a family where creativity is preserved"?

I'm sorry, I really should get some sleep.

  2. Mums are the best. What still really gets me after 22 years is how much my kids love me. I mean my job is too annoy them totally and I do a reasonable job of it but they still love me. It's a miraculous thing that comes with the bonding right at the beginng and would take a really bad mum to undo. Hats off to you and your Mum. Cherrie

  3. Your lucky to have such a nice relationship with your mum :-) And I guess we can forgive you for that sort of reason and plus there are a lot of blogs to get through :-) It was a really good challenge though and i think everyone that did a portrait enjoyed it!

  4. You know you could always add "learn to dive" to your 2011 goals ;)
I think I will leave it to the professionals!

Sounds like wonderful stock to come from.

  8. it just goes to show that acorns don't fall far from the tree - your family has obviously given you a legacy of creativity to "draw" from =-)

  10. My mom thinks I can do anything too...she even said that if I hadn't become a teacher I could have been on So You Think You Can Dance (maybe just in America, but I am sure you can guess that it is a ridiculously talented dance competition...which I could not have done)

I think that the mom in "Mennonite in a Little Black Dress" reminds me of your type of mother...always a positive outlook. Try reading it if you have a chance, it will make you laugh.

  12. Your mum is great, cause she created you!

Mum's are neat aren't they. I miss mine so much! Living abroad sucks in that regard!! She would just LOVED this crafty blog world stuff. If she was able to use a computer, she'd marvel at our world here! Maybe I'll do a little post about MY mum for blogtoberfest. LOL ;-)
